I'm a clinical social worker and psychotherapist in Grand Rapids, MI. I received my Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University and my Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary.
I have clinical experience working with individuals and couples ranging from young adulthood to older adulthood and am a licensed clinician in the state of Michigan.
I help clients who are experiencing issues related to depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, narcissism, anger, sexuality, family conflict, communication, differentiation, insecure attachment, grief and loss, dementia, caregiving, and spirituality.
The type of therapy I provide is an ecclectic blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Exposure Response Prevention, Interpersonal, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I have specialized training in the following: OCD and ERP through NOCD; marriage therapy through Gottman Method Couples Therapy (completion of Level 2 Training); dementia through Positive Approach to Care.
I accept payment from the following insurance providers: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Cofinity, Medicare, Medicaid, Optum, Priority Health, TriCare, and United Healthcare. Out-of-network billing is also available.
Fees for services provided are $175 for Diagnostic Assessment, $160 for individual psychotherapy, and $175 for couples therapy (private pay only).
Clients who do not have insurance can still receive services through private pay.
I accept payment by cash (including Venmo and Zelle), check, or credit card.
Clients may choose in-person sessions or virtual.
Sessions are generally scheduled weekly or every other week and are oriented around your goals and whatever you want to talk about. Treatment plans range between brief therapy (10 weeks) to long term (unspecified length of time) depending on your goals. Per session fee of $160.
During this process sessions are focused on gathering information, working together with you to establish goals, and formulating a treatment plan based on the diagnosis. Per session fee of $175.
Josh uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help couples strengthen their friendship, manage conflict, improve on relationship strengths and areas that need improvement, and resolve issues. Per session private pay fee of $175.
Using Prepare/Enrich or the Relationship Checkup from Gottman Institute, Josh will teach you the skills you'll need to have a thriving marriage so that you'll be prepared to overcome the challenges you'll face together as a married couple. A customized individual and couple assessment is included in this plan. Per session private pay fee of $175 .
Josh is an ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America and is available to officiate your marriage ceremony. This fee includes facilitating a wedding rehearsal as well as officiating the marriage ceremony. At least three premarital counseling sessions are pre-required in the months or weeks leading up to the big day. Officiant fee of $750.
I am conveniently located in The Weyhill Building on the East Beltline near Burton St. and Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. Free parking is available on site. Our office (in Suite 102) is ADA accesible. Teletherapy sessions are also available.
